Proud to be at pride
Hey again every one .. how are you all? Did you have a nice weekend? Im going to tell you about mine! I didnt think it would be as good as it was really .. so here goes ...
Me and Fiona travlled up to Manchester on Thursday, it took just over 4 hours so it was shattering! We all went out to the local city hall to listen to some lesbians talk about how they are sucsefull in there area, only no one had really turned up so we had a gossip, met a few people & brought a 'Women Space T-shit' that Gemma had designed! We made our way home, had some tea, a drink & hit the sack!
Friday morning we went to asda and stopped for something to eat on the way home. Later that afternoon Gemma's friend Mary, Sarah & Nila came to stay, and that night we all went to the village (the village is the nickname for Cannal street, the gay village) for a drink. It was the first night of pride and you had to put wrist bands on that had to stay on all weekend to get back in. We met up with Gemma's friend Antonia and another of her friends and had a few drinks. We moved to another bar where they had put stools in the disabled toilet, so the activist's amoungst us took all the stoools out of the loo and put them in the abled bodied toilets ;o) A few drinks later and we were making our way home!
Relitivly early start on Saturday, we were at womens space by 12. Went for a walk round the market there with Chip (Gem's PA) me & Fiona. The other girls went off to do there own thing. The market was ok, not exactly the most inspiring place ever, but nice. Then met up with Gaz and Molly for the main even of the weekend, the paride. We had to run to the end of the village to collect Gaz cos they wouldnt let him in (not supprised!!!) So me and Gem shouted at the security people and they let them both in ;o) *kick ass*
We made our way right down to the other end of the village and out on to the main road where we parked to watch all the floats go by. It was amazing, the cround were going mad for it all. I have taken to TON of photos of everything so i will show you some when i get them back. The Police got the biggest cheer because they walked in uniform and that was a REALLY big thing for the LBGT community. It was so coulerful though and there was the 'Still' campain for people who are +VE that was good.
That finished after about an hour i guess and we made our way to a bar to have something to eat and a chill out before we got moving again!
Gem, Chip and Fiona made there way back to womens space while me, Gaz & Molly went for a walk round the market. Gaz invested in some bondge wear while me and Molly refrained ;o)
We went for a walk round, had a look at the main stage and round a lifestyal display. Gaz shorty died so i made my way back to the womens space. We stayed there most of the afternoon but by 8 we were all in too much pain and too tiered to go to the club we planned. Made our way home, took morphine and were in bed by 9:45!! lol .. the high life you know ;o)
Sunday was a later start, we went out for lunch with Marlyn (Gem's PA) and all the girls to say good bye as they were going home. We went off to womens space where we spent most of the say. We say Donna some one or other (that lesbian comedian who was on that sunday lunch time program) and Horse the lesbian singer (who was not only totally beautiful but an amazing singer too) We had a few drinks and some smoke, met some really nice women and just chilled there all night! It was great just to sit back and listen and take it what was going on.
Monday was a bit of a rush as we had to pack and find out train times. But we went to womens space to get our final hit of pride before we had to leave! There was a really good poet on actually, it was really sad that we had to leave half way through but we had to get the train at 4.
Ok, i cant write any more cos im dying .. tomorrow i will tell you the joyfull news about my degeniritive spine and the carpul tunnle!
